“AWWW,” Ivy screamed from her bed. She popped up again this time dripping wet in her own sweat and tears. Her sheets were drenched and all she could do was just sit there and taking huge gulps of breaths.
“No more midnight chocolate for me,” she concluded and rose up to change her sheets.
After she had gotten her bed all comfy she slipped out of her pj’s and walked stalk naked into the bathroom to take a shower. Her plump breast jiggled slightly, as she pranced over to her bathtub, and twisted the knobs slowly. The water got hot fast as usual and the steam began to take over the tiny bathroom.
Ivy leaned over the sink to check the small bags that hung below her eyes and take note of any unwanted beauty marks, as usual. She turned on the cold water at the sink and dipped her face into her palms three times.
Coming up from the last time, she paused to take another glance at herself, but stared abruptly at the image in the mirror. It was not her at all; instead, it was January who stared back.
Ivy motioned a few times and indeed the reflection mimicked each movement, but yet it was January’s face. She blinked hard, but still, there before her very eyes stood her twin sister.
Ivy pressed her right hand against the mirror but she did not touch a hard surface. Her fingers slipped through almost as if it was some kind of liquid substance. Instantly, the reflection grabbed hold of her and started pulling her through the looking glass. It grabbed her head with its hand and shoved its long pointy tongue down her throat.
“Ivy...” hissed January.
Ivy screamed as she tugged away from the horrid monster that started crossing over into her bathroom.
“Kisss meee....” she snarled transforming to the wretched reptile from her nightmare. “You can’t esscaape your ennvy,” she persuaded.
“NOOOO....”Ivy yelled jumping out of her sleep, again. She began to sob uncontrollably. She turned and buried her face into her soggy pillow and screamed. Her emotions were eating her up on the inside.
How dare January just waltz into her life after all those years? They had nothing in common except there looks.
Ivy’s mind was a ball of confusion as she sifted through the recent phone messages and text’s her sister had bombarded her with. She honestly had no heart to want to deal with January at all. As far as she was concerned, she had abandoned her; just as her uncle had did their mother.
“Didn’t I deserve da same life? Why did dey leave me in dat rotten NICU to die?” she thought trying to pull herself together, but it was no use.
She could feel her blood boil as she thought about how easy January must have had it growing up with two loving parents. She imagined what kind of schools her sister attended and what kind of houses she lived in. Images of birthdays and holidays crowded her mind as anger, bitterness, and pain enveloped her mentally.
